THE WELL CELL
FAQ

Ask us anything.

The questions we get most, answered the way we would answer them in the room.

What exactly is this?

It is a wellness studio run by two women with a nursing background. The service most people start with is PEMF: you lie on a mat, fully clothed, for sixty minutes while low-frequency electromagnetic pulses move through your body to support the natural electrical charge your cells use to make energy. It is drug-free and non-invasive. There is nothing to swallow, nothing to inject, and nothing to recover from.

Will it help with my specific issue?

We will not promise you that, and you should be careful with anyone who does. What we can tell you is who tends to come to us: people carrying chronic pain, inflammation, fatigue, poor sleep, a slow-healing injury, or plain burnout. PEMF is not a treatment aimed at a diagnosis. It supports the conditions your body needs in order to do its own repair work. Tell us what has been going on at your consultation and we will tell you honestly whether we think it is worth trying, including when the answer is no.

What is PEMF?

PEMF stands for pulsed electromagnetic field therapy. Every cell in your body carries a small electrical charge, and that charge is how cells take in nutrients, clear waste, and produce energy. A PEMF mat delivers low-frequency electromagnetic pulses through the body, designed to support that natural charge so your cells can work more efficiently. It has been studied for decades, and FDA-cleared versions have been used in orthopedics to support bone repair.

What does a PEMF session feel like?

Most people feel a light pulsing or a gentle tapping. Some feel almost nothing at all. Many people fall asleep. You lie on the mat fully clothed for sixty minutes. There is no downtime afterward.

Does it hurt?

No. PEMF is not painful. If anything about a session feels uncomfortable, we adjust the intensity right there.

How many sessions will I need?

Honestly, we do not know on day one. Some people feel a difference quickly. Some need a series. We let your body determine the next path and adjust as we go. That is why we suggest starting with the Cellular Reset, three sessions in fourteen days, rather than committing to a set number up front.

Is PEMF safe?

For most people, yes. It is not appropriate if you have a pacemaker, defibrillator, cochlear implant, or any implanted electronic device. It is also not recommended during pregnancy, with active bleeding, or if you are taking immunosuppressants after an organ transplant. If you have a seizure disorder, talk to us and your physician first. Every new client gets a health review before their first session.

How is PEMF different from red light therapy?

They do different things and they work well together. Red light therapy works at the surface, supporting skin and tissue. PEMF works through the whole body at the cellular level, supporting energy production and nervous system regulation.

How is this different from traditional nutrition?

I do not count calories or hand out generic meal plans. I use functional testing, mineral analysis, symptom patterns, and nutrition to determine why your body is struggling so we can support healing at the root cause.

Why the Mineral Insight Assessment, and why Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis?

Minerals are the foundation of every process in the body. Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA) gives us a long-term picture of stress, metabolism, adrenal function, thyroid patterns, mineral balance, and detoxification, so recommendations are personalized instead of guesswork.

Why do you focus on minerals?

Minerals are required for every cell in the body to produce energy, regulate hormones, support the nervous system, and maintain healthy metabolism. Mineral analysis helps us identify patterns so we can create a nutrition plan specific to your body’s needs instead of relying on guesswork.

Do I need supplements forever?

No. Supplements are tools, not the goal. We use them strategically while rebuilding your body’s nutrient reserves, then simplify as your body becomes more resilient.

Why does gut health matter so much?

Your gut impacts far more than digestion. It plays a major role in nutrient absorption, immune function, hormone balance, inflammation, mood, and energy production. If your body is not digesting and absorbing nutrients well, it becomes much harder to heal. That is why we always start by supporting digestion before focusing on more advanced protocols.

Why do you not jump straight into detoxing?

Your body needs the nutrients and energy to detox safely. Before addressing heavy metals, mold, or other toxins, we focus on building strong foundations, supporting digestion, mineral balance, liver function, hydration, and the nervous system. A well-supported body detoxifies more effectively and with fewer unwanted symptoms.

What is the HPA Axis?

The HPA (Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Adrenal) Axis is your body’s primary stress-response system. It regulates cortisol, energy production, sleep, blood sugar, immune function, hormone balance, and your ability to adapt to stress. Chronic stress can dysregulate this system, contributing to fatigue, anxiety, hormone imbalances, digestive issues, and difficulty recovering from illness.

How do you support the HPA Axis?

Rather than masking symptoms, we help restore resilience by focusing on mineral balance, blood sugar regulation, quality sleep, nervous system regulation, hydration, nutrient-dense foods, and lifestyle habits that allow your body to recover from chronic stress.

What should I expect during the program?

Clients learn how to fuel their body with whole foods, stabilize blood sugar, improve digestion, restore mineral balance, regulate their nervous system, and build habits that create long-term healing.

How long does healing take?

Healing is different for everyone and depends on factors like stress, nutrient status, lifestyle, and health history. Our goal is not a quick fix. It is helping you build sustainable habits that support long-term health and lasting results.

Why is the program ninety days?

Depletion took time. Restoration does too. Ninety days gives us enough runway to gather a real baseline, make changes, and then reassess to see what actually shifted. Anything shorter is a guess.

What happens when the ninety days are over?

Most people keep coming. Not because they have to, but because the weekly hour turned out to be about more than PEMF. We call it Continuing Care, and it moves at your pace. Weekly, every other week, monthly, whatever fits your life.

How are the fifteen sessions scheduled across the ninety days?

Fifteen sessions are available during the ninety days. The first month typically involves twice-weekly visits, which is eight sessions, and then it moves to weekly. If your sessions are exhausted before the ninety days end, additional sessions are available at 10% off.

Do I have to do the full program to work with you?

No. Plenty of people start with a single consultation or a Mineral Insight Assessment™ and go from there.

How do I know where to start?

Book an initial consultation. It is a conversation, not a sales pitch. We will listen to what has been going on and tell you honestly which starting point makes sense, including if the answer is none of them right now.

Does insurance cover it?

No. We are a cash-pay wellness studio, which is part of how we are able to give you the time and attention this kind of care requires. Some clients are able to use an HSA or FSA card. Check with your plan administrator, since we cannot confirm that for you.

Do I need a referral from my doctor?

No referral is needed. We are happy to work alongside your physician, and we will always tell you when something is a question for them rather than for us.

Are you replacing my doctor?

No. We offer wellness services, informed by our nursing background. We do not diagnose, and we do not replace medical care. We work best as a complement to it.

Where are you located?

North East, Maryland. Monday to Friday, by appointment.

What to expect

What does a PEMF session feel like?

If you’ve never experienced PEMF before, you may be wondering what actually happens during a session. It’s probably much more comfortable than you’re imagining.

Fully clothed, in a recliner.

You’ll remain fully clothed and relax in one of our comfortable recliners while we position the PEMF applicators based on what brought you in and what we’re working on.

What you may feel.

Depending on the intensity and area being addressed, you may feel anything from a light pulsing or tapping sensation to noticeable muscle contractions.

We’re right there with you.

We’re listening to what you’re feeling and adjusting the intensity or placement as needed. Your session isn’t dictated by a preset protocol. We pay attention to you.

Red light, at no additional charge.

When appropriate, we may also incorporate other supportive modalities—such as high-powered red light therapy—at no additional charge. Because our focus isn’t on selling you more services. It’s on giving you the individualized support you need.

Contraindications

Who cannot use PEMF.

PEMF is well tolerated by most people. It is not appropriate if you have a pacemaker, defibrillator, cochlear implant, or any implanted electronic device. It is also not recommended during pregnancy, with active bleeding, or if you are on immunosuppressants following an organ transplant. If you have a seizure disorder, talk to us and your physician first.

Your first visit includes a health review, and if PEMF is not a good fit for you, we will tell you.

PEMF is a wellness service. It is not a diagnosis, and it is not a replacement for medical care.
